What we need from you when you bring your furry Friend to us:

The INITIAL physical examination is the time when we  will get to know the history behind your animal's problem, such as: 1) the things you have tried to use to help it; 2) What has worked. 3) What hasn't worked; 4) What are the exact drugs or herbs or vitamins that were used; (If you still have the bottles, bring them in so our Dr's. can evaluate their true potency.) 4) If your animal had diarrhea, bring in the worst of the stools it has produced. If it's urinating inappropriately, try to collect a free catch of urine using a pie plate or bread dish under it, or even a paper cup suspended on a straightened out wire hanger to catch it. Refrigerate the sample in a sealed container and try to bring it with you, or submit it within 24 hours of collection. Call our office and we can instruct you how to collect urine from your cat or reluctant dog.

Don't forget to bring in the medical records from your previous veterinarians who may have done some very valuable diagnostic work ups. For instance, radiographs or ultrasound reports, or blood tests, and so on. Bring them please. It helps our Dr's. to better serve your pet's needs. Many people will bring the bills they get from their vets. These don't have enough information to be of much value. Please try to get the official papers from your vets, and bring them with. We will make a copy of them and attach them permanently to your record, and they are always yours to have us copy up and return to you.
We need you to arrive 15 minutes prior to the examination time so we can have you fill our forms and allow us to put your medical file together with all the previous diagnostic information and medical records from your previous vets. We also weigh your pet at that time and take a heart rate, respiration and temperature (TPR). Please let us know if you don't want us to take your animal's rectal temperature. Because we spend so much time with each patient, having the appointments start on time is very important for us to be able to see all of the patients we have scheduled in a day. If the person before you was late, then your appointment may be late as well. We ask you. No, actually we beg and beseech you to please please please arrive a bit early for your appointment so that we can continue to stay on time. Appointments that are missed and have not been cancelled 24 hours or more the day before will be charged the full fee for that appointment.

If your dog or cat has the tendency to attack, bite, scratch or just generally maul vets, we would greatly appreciate being informed of that before we go to the hospital for hand surgery. If you feel the dog needs a muzzle, increased physical restrain, or even tranquillizer, please let us know and we do what is your pets best interests as well as our own. We are not Wild Kingdom vets, and if your animal; so ill-behaved or vicious, we will not go near it, for our own sake and the sake of the many animals we could help if we hadn't been mauled by your animal.
